How can I get into hockey? I've been trying but I haven't found the thrill of it yet?

I've been trying and trying to become a hockey fan, but I do not know enough about it to get interested in the game. It bugs me because all my friends talk about hockey, but to me it's just guys skating back and forth with the puck. What are the keys to getting into hockey?
