I need to write a thesis on a topic of legalizing gay marriage.?

In my english cl, we have to write an editorial on a topic. I am doing mine on legalizing gay marriage in the u.s. I have to write a theses for it...does anyone have any ideas for my thesis, and/or some examples to prove it. thank you!
