Will my cats become good buddies?

I recently introduced a new cat to the household over a month. The resident cat Snowy and the newer cat Odie are getting along. They groom each other and sometimes play, but occasionally it gets to be much and Snowy runs away hissing. Odie wants to cuddle with Snowy but Snowy won't. I had the new cat for 3 months now. Do you think the two will eventually become great buds and it is only a matter of time? Is it common for a deeper friendship to blossom in a longer time? I guess there is not much I can do for now, but I am very happy that they get along well in the same household!
